Prepare Keurig Coffee without a Machine?

The Keurig is loved by many coffee lovers as the taste is extremely delicious when brewed this way.

What is the Keurig?

Keurig is so named because the name of the company that started production, Keurig Dr. Pepper’s name. Its main product is the K-Cup (coffee container for individual use), but it also sells coffee makers, filters, coffee pots and other items related to the coffee industry.

Why no machine?

There are several reasons why one can prepare coffee in capsules without a machine, for example if the machine is damaged or the size of the capsule does not match the machine. In any case, here I will share a technique to help you enjoy your coffee.

How to make capsule coffee without a machine

There are two ways of preparing it: in the microwave or on the stove. Below I will list the materials and steps so you can cook your Keurig without any hassles.

Materials for the microwave process

  • Microwaveable dish or bowl
  • Water
  • Coffee pod or Keurig coffee (any size and flavor will do)
  • A towel or something to help you remove the hot container from the microwave.

Materials for cooking on the stove

  • Saucepan or pot
  • The amount of water you typically use to brew your coffee.
  • Coffee pod or Keurig coffee pod
  • Spoon or tongs
  • Towel to remove the jug from the stove

Steps for preparation

Open the capsule

Open the lid of the coffee capsule with a knife or scissors.

Pour the coffee into the water

After opening the capsule, pour the coffee powder into the water.

Stir

It is necessary to stir the powder so that there are no lumps or small balls of coffee powder, so you should stir it in circles with a spoon.

Heat

Either on the stovetop or in the microwave, place the cup or pot on the stovetop. On the stove, it is better to cook on medium. 3 to 5 minutes on the fire, 2 to 4 minutes in the microwave.

Serve

When you take the pot or container out of the microwave or stove with the towel, the coffee won’t be ready right away, so you should stir until the powder and water are completely mixed.

Does the taste change?

The answer is yes, because as you may have noticed, no pressure was applied in the kettle or microwave process, so the coffee doesn’t taste like espresso, but has a different taste.

The taste changes because no pressure is generated when preparing without a machine, so it will not be an espresso, just a coffee.

But no doubt this trick will save you at a casual moment.

What are the differences between an instant coffee and a Keurig coffee?

There are several differences between conventional coffee powder and capsule coffee, which I will list below.

Environmental pollution

Coffee capsules, unlike regular coffee powder, pollute the environment because they are made of aluminum covered with a plastic film. This type of material is difficult to recycle and expensive to process.

Not only that, the amount of material is really too much compared to the product.

Prices

Ground coffee is cheaper than capsules if you don’t count the expensive machines. The coffee powder is cheaper. The capsules contain only 6 grams of coffee and 3 grams of packaging, while the sachets of ground coffee contain 96% coffee.

Preparation time

It takes 5 to 10 minutes to prepare instant coffee, depending on the amount you are preparing, but the capsules are much faster, 1 to 2 minutes, as they are prepared immediately.

Are coffee capsules healthy?

Capsule coffee is considered unhealthier than regular coffee because capsule coffee goes through an industrial process that often involves chemical preservatives while regular coffee is fresh.

There are not only preservatives, but the water for brewing also comes into contact with plastic and aluminum.

For this reason, nutritionists recommend traditional coffee powder.
